Manufacturing Engineer

  • Morrisville, NC
  • Full Time
  • On-site

About the Role

DG Matrix is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support the ramp-up of our new facility in Morrisville, NC. This is a ground-floor role — you will build manufacturing processes from scratch, translate engineering designs into production-ready work instructions, and own process quality for power electronics products as we scale from first unit to hundreds per year. If you are energized by ambiguity and building from scratch, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, and BOMs for power electronics products
  • Lead NPI (New Product Introduction) — translate engineering designs into production-ready processes and tooling requirements
  • Define and optimize work cell layouts, cycle times, takt time, and line balancing across production phases
  • Own process FMEA (PFMEA) and control plans for assigned product lines
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action (8D, Fishbone, 5-Why) for production non-conformances
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) improvements
  • Support MES/ERP implementation and ensure accurate process data capture on the shop floor
  • Track and report yield, throughput, and cycle time KPIs; define and drive improvement actions
  • Support equipment procurement, qualification, and process validation for new work cells
  • Interface with suppliers on component quality, incoming inspection criteria, and delivery issues

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in electronics, power systems, or industrial equipment
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with PFMEA, control plans, and structured problem-solving (8D, 5-Why)
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and MS Office / Google Suite
  • Experience with MES or ERP systems (Odoo, SAP, or similar)
  • Strong cross-functional communication — design, quality, supply chain, and operations teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in power electronics, inverters, EV, energy storage, or grid infrastructure manufacturing
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, or NFPA standards for power equipment
  • Experience scaling production from low-volume to higher-volume manufacturing
  • Knowledge of high-voltage assembly and test processes for 3-phase systems
